A Message from the President
The Lansing Old Timers Over 35 Baseball League is a league designed to afford to men 33 years of age and older the opportunity to participate in an organized baseball league once again. Not to be confused with 12 inch or 16 inch softball, we offer the hardball game of baseball that many men have not played since their teen-age or college days and, as they got older, discovered that there simply were not any leagues available to play in. Most, if not all, of our players have participated in organized baseball at some point in their lives. As a result, the prospective league player seeking to match his skills with quality ballplayers will get good competition in this league. The Over 35 League consists of eight teams which play an approximate 15 game schedule. The season begins on the first Sunday of June and can extend to the final weekend of September when the league playoffs are scheduled to end. Games are played on Sundays at the Lansing Sports Complex, 168th and Chicago Ave. and Gouwens Park in Chicago Heights, with the exception of six games, which are played at an alternate site. Game times are 12 noon and 3:00 pm in June. Players can be 32 years old when they first join the league, providing their 33rd birthday occurs anytime during the calendar year in which they register. Pitchers under 40 years old are allowed to pitch a maximum of three innings in any one game. Pitchers 40 and over are allowed 4 innings. Steel spikes are allowed, but players are encouraged to wear hard rubber or vinyl baseball shoes in order to reduce the chance of injury. There is a top priority placed on minimizing injuries in this league. Registration for the league is set in late winter at the same time and place that the youth leagues register. Team rosters are set by mid-April. There is a late registration period. If interested in playing baseball again, but are not sure if your competitive juices are flowing enough, come on out on a summer Sunday afternoon to the beautiful Lansing Sports Complex and catch our act.
